Anthony Ryan is an experienced English teacher and program coordinator with a passion for Chinese history and culture. Originally from Ireland, he has been living in China for over ten years. He completed his BA and MA in English at the National University of Ireland, Maynooth, before pursuing the Cambridge Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (DELTA). Over the course of his career, he has taught at Renmin University of China, Tsinghua University, and the University of Edinburgh, bringing his expertise and love of teaching to students from around the world.

In addition to his teaching and program coordination work, Anthony has earned a Postgraduate Certificate in Tertiary Teaching and Learning. He is a published author and is currently enrolled as a Ph.D. researcher with the University of Waikato studying the concept of brokering in Chinese entrepreneurial leadership. He has authored a textbook on academic writing and currently has multiple publications in advanced stages of submission. His research interests include the intersection of language, culture, and leadership in the global business world.

Previously, Anthony served as the Head of the MOOC academic writing course at Renmin University, where he demonstrated his expertise in curriculum design and program management. Since joining our team, he has presented on panels on topics around educational leadership during COVID-19 and educational responses to the development of AI, showcasing his thought on leadership and expertise in these areas.

With his deep knowledge of language instruction, his commitment to cross-cultural understanding, and his expertise in teaching and learning; Anthony is a valued member of our academic community. Whether he is developing curriculum, leading workshops, collaborating with colleagues, or presenting at academic conferences, he is dedicated to creating an inclusive and engaging learning environment that inspires his students to achieve their full potential.
