About Me NZUWI English Foundation Program (EFP) Director and Academic English Lecturer, earned his master’s degree in Applied Linguistics – last century, 1994 – from the University of South Florida. Having begun his wild, yet professional, applied linguist’s career in Xiangtan, Hunan, China, he has artfully continued to add to his repertoire of applied linguistics – and life – tools and tricks over the past 27 years: From Venezuela to Saudi Arabia to the United Arab Emirates to Equatorial Guinea and, finally, back to China, he has taught Academic English, ESP (Science & Technology), IELTS, and TOEFL and managed language-learning programs in both tertiary-level academic and corporate-training settings. Of this lengthy period, he has delivered Academic English courses to more than 1,000 ZUCC and NZUWI students and has an on-going record of delivering more than 3600 scheduled classes without absence. He takes great pride in his substantial roles in first establishing the NZUWI EFP and now – with the help of both his Chinese and foreign national colleagues – ensuring the quality of all the EFP delivers in aiding the academic and life success of all NZUWI students. Among his varied interests within the field of applied linguistics are Instrumental vs. Integrative Learning of Non-First Languages and Computer Aided Language Learning, on both of which he has engaged as presenter at TESOL USA and TESOL Gulf. Most recently (November 2022), Frank presented “Computer-Aided Language Learning (CALL) at NZUWI: Motivations, Applications, Outcomes” at the International Conference on Engineering Education in Chinese-Foreign Cooperative Universities sponsored by Zhejiang University of Science and Technology and organized by the Chinese-German Institute for Applied Engineering (CDAI). Frank's efforts within and connections to the Hangzhou community were recognized in September 2018 through his being named Honorary Citizen Nominee of Hangzhou.
